Heavensrun is a character belonging to her namesake, Jason Heavensrun, and was planned for his Kheldian character basically from the announcement of the epic AT early in the city of development cycle of City of Heroes. The decision to make her a PPD awakened was motivated largely by a desire to use the PPD chest decal granted by the vet rewards. The decision to make her a -captain- was an act of defiance at the fact that there is apparently not a single woman anywhere on the PPD. -_-;

In-Game Desc

Female detectives are a rare sight in the PPD, but those that make the rank tend to be something exceptional. Sarah Novachek was a devoted cop, eager to protect her home town from the scum that feed on the weak and the helpless. Her devotion and sterling service record paid off when the city began its PPD awakened program. Fused with an alien symbiote, and promoted to the rank of captain, she now patrols the streets with renewed vigor, using her new abilities to protect and serve the public with the pride and eagerness she has always been known for.

Sarah is a captain in the Paragon Police Department, as well as a ranking member in the department's Awakened program. She is also the department's liason with the supergroup Quantum Tears, assigned to act oversight for a supergroup that has been known to fracture the occasional law.

Sarah is devoted, honest, and very dedicated to law and order. She is, perhaps, a bit on the stuffy side, as her ability to ascend through the ranks of the PPD has nessecitated a very "by the book" approach. She has also developed a hint of defensiveness about her abilities, after having them questioned more than is perhaps fair by her superiors and subordinates. Still, she is a devoted professional and genuinely cares about the people she is pledged to protect. Her Kheldian symbiote, Hiressilon, is more impulsive, and has come to the conclusion over her long life that all beings deserve to get as much out of life as they can. In a sense, they are the ultimate odd couple, occupying the same body, and not always agreeing what should be done with it.

Additional Powers

  • Swift

In addition to her police and forensic skills, Heavensrun is a Peacebringer, the fusion of a human host and a Kheldian symbiote. With this comes all the abilities associated with that, including the ability to project energy blasts, sheilds, and transform into the former host creatures that had housed her kheldian partner in the past. She is also an above-average marksman on the force, but that is rarely nessecary now that she has become a peacebringer.

Apart from Standard issue police and PPDA uniforms, She owns a variety of firearms that are generally unnessecary.

Weaknesses and Limitations

As a fused kheldian, she is vulnerable to the attacks of a Quantum Array rifle.

Character History

Sarah was born on the Missouri side of Kansas City, the fourth child of a five-kid family. She was five when her father, Himself a police commissioner, was transferred to the Paragon Police department. She grew up in the city, lived and breathed it's wonder and majesty, and idolized her father's devotion to protecting its people from threats his department was ill equipped to deal with. As soon as she was old enough, she applied for the academy. She was a thoroughly average student, but did well enough to get by, and had the family connections to help her move forward. This advantage quickly turned into a drawback, however. Between her father's help, and her own obvious physical attractiveness, many began to question whether she really deserved to advance. Rather than shy from these people, she resolved to prove herself, working harder, longer hours than most, devoting herself to shutting up the loose talk.

It was this stubborn, mule-like refusal to back down that earned her a place as a detective in the Paragon Police. She was behind the curve on promotions for her graduating class, however, but she found an opportunity to prove herself during the council takeover of the 5th column. Asserting herself as the defacto leader of her precinct after their captain was critically wounded in a confrontation between the two groups, she put herself at significant risk in an off the cuff task force that shut down the infighting in a large section of the city. In recognition of her decisive actions and her bravery, and under recommendation of her wounded captain, she was offered a promotion, as well as her choice of assignments.

She chose the budding PPD awakened program. Electing to fuse with a Kheldian symbiote, she had gained firsthand experience at how helpless her compatriots were in the face of these metahuman threats, and refused to leave the matter entirely in the hands of what she considered "superhuman vigilante bounty hunters". She spent much of her time intially helping to fend off jailbreaks and bank robberies by supervillians, and was eventually directed to liase with the Kheldian Sunstorm, and the supergroup Quantum Tears.

Other Notes

Sarah doesn't like or trust superheroes much, and regards the QT as a cluster of silly anarchist metahumans with no respect for the law. Hiressilon, on the other hand, -adores- the group and their unconventional ways of approaching problems, and is constantly trying to convince Sarah to open up to the team more.

  • Sarah has an extensive intelligence dossier on every member of the tears, and in some cases knows more about them then they themselves do, and often knows more than their other teammates.
