Runs about nude, because he -can-

Macavity's a Mystery Cat: he's called the Hidden Paw -
For he's the master criminal who can defy the Law.
He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad's despair:
For when they reach the scene of crime - Macavity's not there!

Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity,
He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity.
His powers of levitation would make a fakir stare,
And when you reach the scene of crime - Macavity's not there!
You may seek him in the basement, you may look up in the air -
But I tell you once and once again, Macavity's not there!

In-Game Desc

The thief that calls himself Macavity has no true name, abandoned near birth in the murky alleyways of London's East End. Raised by the folk of the street, he got along by using his mutant powers for petty crime. He had a penchant for thought beneath all his thuggery, however, and was an avid reader who deep down longed to be an intellectual. This instinct led him, perhaps inevitably, to the poetry of T.S. Eliot, from which he became enamored with the character of "Macavity, the mystery cat". This infatuation led him into an impressive criminal career.

"The bafflement of Scotland Yard" ran into trouble, however, on an enforcement run in Paragon City. Finding his mark (A Dr. Arthurs) dead at the hands of the scientist's own companion-bot, Macavity and the murderous fem-bot had to work together to escape the local constabulary. His mob connections abandoned him as a liability, and he and "Baby Doll" now work as partners in Kage-ko's "Black Reactor Army".

Macavity is a member of the Black Reactor Army, staying with the group largely out of loyalty to the android Baby-Doll, who he sees as something of a little (bigger) sister. He is also affiliated with the Family, and formerly had ties to the London crime syndicates.

Macavity is a lewd little manslut that will sex up nearly anything that will let him. He has a bit of an attention issue, and has always had a penchant for thrusting himself into the limelight whenever he can. He has an overbearing distaste for authority and rules, and is, fundamentally, a bit of an anarchist. That said, if someone has done right by him in the past, he tends to trust them, and as such, he is willing to follow Kage-ko so long as she doesn't try to stab him in the back. His affection for the android Baby Doll, and her smitten affection for the ninja queen are also major factors in his alleigance, for the time being. He is also prone to running about naked as often as he can, getting a cheap thrill from the act, knowing that he can be as hidden or as visible as he wants simply by virtue of his abilities.

Macavity can blend with the shadows themselves to become invisible. He can slip into and out of locked rooms without a key, and has even been known to walk on walls and ceilings. he has razor sharp claws as a part of his mutation, and can extend or retract them at will.

Macavity uses virtually no equipment to speak of, and really wears no clothing to speak of.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Macavity is an absolute sucker for a pretty backside, and as he tends to be at eye-level with them most of the time, he is easily distracted by them. He is also more of a petty criminal then a conniving mastermind, so his ideas and plans tend to be pretty low-key.

Character History

Macavity was born in the rough part of old London town, and was abandoned on the streets as an infant by parents who couldn't cope with his mutation. From those early days, he was almost as much cat as man, and as a kitten growing up in the rough part of london, he could easily have ended up dead in a gutter, but for a clutter of homeless vagrants that took it upon themselves to keep him alive.

He developed to adolescence as a street rat in the low streets of london, as cockney as they come, and though he had a hard life, he learned to make the most of it. He started chipping in for the syndicates as a whelp, and as his powers manifested, he got across that he could contribute more than most of their young intiates. By his teens, he'd established a rep as a syndicate enforcer, delivering threatening "messages" to people that could neither see, hear, nor feel him coming. Even with his small stature, he terrified and intimidated would-be deadbeats, and became a favored son of the syndicate. During this time, he came across the book "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T.S.Eliot, and seized upon the character of Macavity, identifying with the clever criminal cat. Taking the name for himself, and shedding the nicknames he'd gone by in childhood, he literally -did- become the bafflement of Scotland Yard for a time.

However, all good things must come to an end, some might say.

After a corrupt DATA scientist defaulted on money he'd borrowed from the London syndicates, Macavity was sent to Paragon to scare him into coughing up the money. However, when he arrived, he found the scientist has already been murdered by his own creation, the android BabyDoll. The money the scientist had stolen had funded BD's development, and he had intended her to be the perfect companion. Subservient, devoted, and sexually…enthusiastic. However he built her too well, and she was smart enough to recognize slavery when she saw it. Mac sympathized with her traumatic experience, and tried to help her escape, but they were captured by the Paragon Police and incarcerated in the Zig.

They escaped, however, during Recluse's operation destiny raids, and fled together to the rogue isles, where they eventually fell in with Kage-Ko and her Black Reactor Army. Since then, Macavity's found no convincing reason to leave their nest…His contacts in the syndicate had hung him up to dry, BabyDoll is happy with her ninja queen, and the girls around the place are enough to make his "bits" harder to hide.

Other Notes

Macavity is as mentioned a manwhore, but this is a character trait, not an invitation to cyber.

  • BabyDoll is possibly the only female anything Mac doesn't hit on or flirt with on sight.
